The Heritage of Yawnogard the author

As a new author, I thought you might like to know a little bit about me. I have been writing most of my life, which is now 60 years. I became a police officer in a major S. Florida police department where I had to write reports on almost everything from crimes to lost children and animal antics. My reports were straight-forward, sometimes lengthy and told stories of crimes or incidents reported to me.

While writing these stories, they became movies in my mind and that is how they came out on paper, like short vignettes. The end results varied, from tragedies to comedies. This allowed a couple of the shorter ones to be picked up by the local newspaper of found their way to the States Attorney's Office, which gave glowing reviews to my department and letters of commendation to me. On occasion, personal phone calls from the SA office told me how interesting and wwoven together the stories were and made their cases easier to handle in court.

After leaving the police department I moved to Las Vegas, NV where I became employed in one of the major Strip casinos. Here I came across a plethora of visual and verbal customer antics, which eventually led to a short booklet, Casino Courtesy - Do's and Don'ts/Brainless in Las Vegas, which I wrote for the employees and some local customers. This little satirical booklet helped introduce me to local writers groups which in turn helped guide me to write and self-publish the novel The Heritage of Yawnogard.

Now that I've hopefully sparked your interest, I want to tell you about my novel which started out as a dream and grew into two stories that I combined into one book for the sake of not having to make the reader(s) wait for Part II to come out in another book years later, like the Harry Potter series.

My story begins with The Great Viator, an explorer of the Milky Way galaxy, who is forced to flee his dying planet Yawnogard and must select a safe place for his family, friend and dragons to begin anew. When the planet Earth is chosen as their safe-haven, a living crystal entity creates a space portal, transporting the aliens to Earth. Even though they find Earth's inhabitants hostile to their presence, they choose to remain. Some went into hiding, while others assumed roles within the population, waiting for the right time when they may come forth and be accepted. Nine hundred years later, in a small Pennsylvania town, teen brothers John and Ian unwittingly unleash The Great Viator's dragons from its cave confinement. The dragon's release initiates an exciting series of events, including: the discovery of The Great Viator's real identity, an encounter with a determined government agent and the emergence of special latent powers upon the brothers who train to become dragon-riders. Once trained, the boys return to Yawnogard with the Great Viator to battle a powerful, evil wizard. Here they meet a sentient crystal entity that is older than the universe itself, and discover they have a unique heritage on Yawnogard.
